§ 2.32.010. INTENT AND PURPOSE.

  • (A)

    It is the intent and purpose of this chapter to provide for the complete and efficient utilization of the North Slope Borough's personnel, facilities and equipment in the event of natural or man made disasters and disasters resulting from enemy actions, and to provide for the coordination of disaster and civil defense functions of the North Slope Borough with all other public agencies and affected private persons, corporations and organizations.

    (B)

    The North Slope Borough Office of Emergency Management will be the coordinating agency for all activity in connection with civil defense and other disaster operations; it will be the instrument through which the Borough Mayor may exercise the authority and discharge the responsibilities vested in him by AS Chapter 20 (Civil Defense) and Chapter 23 (Alaska Disaster Act) of Title 26, as amended, and this chapter.

    (C)

    This chapter will not relieve the Borough of the moral responsibilities or authority given to it by law, nor will it adversely affect the work of any volunteer agency organized for relief in disaster emergencies.
